POTLUCK AND MORE POTLUCK!!

29 December 2007

my "specialty" to bring to potlucks nowadays, is the dijon deviled eggs.
muahahaha

ever since learning how to prepare it from an online website and trying it out during my BBQ during 2007, it has more or less garnered quite a 'fan' base of people who tried it and loved it.

it's easy to prepare and taste good.
SO, i shall continue with this until everyone gets sick of it.

we were supposed to have potluck @ Colin's place on Saturday night.
it was supposed to start at around 8pm+, 9pm but well,
unforseen circumstances often occurs and gu and i pretty much got there at around 10pm instead. we were starving so we went down to the kopitiam to grab some food first.

i started preparing the eggs in the later part of the day at around 7pm or so after learning that we'll most prob be starting the potluck late. i got to watch my "Jumeng" first. hehe

gu bought donuts.

i finally completed making the three bead purse keychains Yuki ordered from me (my Wednesday, December 19, 2007 entry) and brought it along with me to the potluck to pass it to her. heh.

It was a good night spent hanging out with some neighbourhood people and most importantly, THERE'S SOUP!!!! i love drinking soup and Yuki made a whole pot full of soup and i helped myself to three bowls full of them hehehehehehe the soup was well done like my mommy's and for those who drank the soup, they drank at least 2 bowls!

beer, wine, mahjong, food, tidbits and tv expected.
along with lotsa crapping of course.
time seems to fly by then and soon, it's turning 3AM!
shocking.
5 hours just went by in what seems like a blink and HL msged us. lol

yea, at 3am.

she's finally done with celebrating with her ex-classmates and was checking if we're still around.
THE NIGHT (erm day?) IS STILL YOUNG!
so we told her to drop by anyway.

with another round of crapping and drinking soup,
2 hours flew by and ZOMG IT'S 5+AM in the morning!!
i would've loved to hang around longer BUT, I can't.
got another round of potluck the nxt day with my ex-KC classmates/schoolmates.

HL kena tompang home on Ben's vespa.
damn cool lah hahahaha and very funny sight.
anyway, it's a vespa. very safe de.

gu and i walked home slowly and when we opened the home door,
hehehe.. lights were all lit up in the living room.
UH-OH..
momsy and dad is up!!! OMG la hahahahaha
then mom chided us jokingly that we got home to sleep only when ppl are waking up. tsk tsk.

we concussed right away and it's the nxt morning already.

the moment i woke up i started preparing the food that i'll be bringing to the potluck (the eggs lah, duh!). i let wilson sleep a little longer till it's nearly 12pm before waking him up to have him send me to yvonne's condo.

the new The Icon condo located in Tanjong Pagar has lotsa nice shops below (as expected, for expats and ppl who earns big bucks), the condo my friend is temporarily staying in has a great view. too bad there's no furnitures in the house yet so we pretty much sat on the floor and ate.

not that it mattered anyway.

lotsa people came reaaaaaally late and those who came early (a pitiful sum of 3 and that includes me) were starving big time. so we entertained ourselves mainly by playing with my yvonne's baby. heh

baby has a trick up her sleeves! she can raise her eyebrow like The Rock!! and it twitches cutely.

my eggs were well liked (see!? proven receipe hahaha) and surprisingly, quite a number of people managed to turn up. it's a pity Feng couldn't join us that day but i did end up getting to meet WX whom i've not met since years after i left KC secondary. she didn't recognize me at first until i told her who i was. lol

ah it's not the first time i get such reactions anymore but it's a pleasant surprise.

as usual, i'm the one who talks very little during gatherings (depends).

i'm waiting for DL to post me the group photos we took.

Denise knitted this super duper cute blankie for baby.

would love to do something like this someday as well.

after having learnt that she knits quite alot as a hobby and quite a no of my ex sch mates would meet up with her to knit, i've exchanged my numbers with her and we've agreed to meet up and knit together someday soon. probably in january.

u'll be seeing lotsa new handiwork related posts soon!!!
can't wait!

some after thoughts
1. I'm glad for the gathering at Colin's house.
core reason for me being glad, i guess, was because this has already been a scenario that i've dreamt of. i have not many neighbourhood ppl / friends that i know of who AT LEAST live within walking distance frm my hse until recent years. havin friends who normally always live either in the central, if not, west side of singapore... is not the most convenient thing. having live so far apart, the ability to meet up face to face diminishes and most of the interactions comes from MSN chats or if not, occasional smses. to hang out till wee hours is rare since we each have our committments now and having to go home in diff directions.. doesnt help if you can't share cab. if even MSN chats or occasional smses lessens, i really don't know what to do. i enjoy the night and like to spend time just chilling with ppl at night. this really helped.

2. i'm glad i initiated asking denise if i could join them to knit.
me, in my old self, would think about it forever and rephrase that question ten thousand times in my mind but end up not saying it.

what to do on a christmas night where you have no plans but to stay home and slack?

take lotsa stupid pics.

and so we did.

armed myself with my digicam, i went into my room with the unsuspecting gu studying his homework where i demanded for him to accompany me in taking random pics.

gu has this trademark popeye face (pic on left) but i personally liked the one on the right cos it made him look cute like a lil boy of some sort.

xxxxxxxxxx

having potluck this coming sat with ching n friends and having yet another round of potluck with my pri+sec sch classmates. might be going out for new year eve celebration though there's details still to be worked out.

am lookin forward for a relaxing weekend heh.

went out with gu and his kakis on christmas eve haha..
we went to crew room which was located in katong village.
nearby only. no need to worry about going home after drinking hahaha.
we is cheapskate.

what to do. cab fare not cheap now.
it's becoming so obvious since everyone around me is gradually becoming very reluctant to stay out late till after 12am (midnight charges).

the guys' mission of the night was to make one of their buddies dead drunk and they managed to do so BUT... i bet they sorely regretted after that hahahaha since the guy was around 1.8m tall and not skinny.

my boy (gu of medium height and built) and his other friend are both smaller in terms of size as compared to the intoxicated guy haha so they had a super hard time helping him out of the pub.

i heard the other two guys who sent him home kena scolding from his mom for making him so drunk hahahaha

gu and i eventually left for home after that and once we got changed into our sleeping attire we slept like pigs.

by the time we reached home it was about 3am in the mornin already.
haha crap man. the guy who was drunk took damn long to 'sober' up or at least, enough to start walking out of the pub (that took us one hour AT LEAST) to get to a cab.

can hardly consider it a super happening night but it was enjoyable nonetheless. =D

Christmas Gifts

heh.
spent quite some time doing up about 12 of these bead purses for my colleagues as christmas presents.

nice?

heh decided to take a more 'pro' looking shot of each design.
nxt time show ppl at least more presentable haha

i made just about 3 colours of each kind (four colours as shown above).
two were made into zipperpulls with decorating beads and the rest were a simpler zipperpull.

what's surprising was that apart from the 12 that i've made, i've separately received a total of 8 more orders for them. (sold them at a price of course)

xxxxxxxxxx

this year's christmas lunch in the office wasn't just as fun as it was the previous year.
not that the previous year was super fun either but this year, it was just less happening i guess.
i had a lot of random gifts last year but this year ppl kept flooding my table with cookies n ice cream. was busy eating the ice cream all up bwahaha

A week away from work

omg.

after one week of leave (i was clearing my annual leave),
and being back at work now...
i'm dying a slow death.. with the work squishing me like an ant.

*pulls hair*

day 1 of my return and i returned to the office with 200+ (nearing 300) emails waiting for me. i cant see my table cos there's papers and files on it along with some sweets and chocs (?) on it.

i spent the entire morning just clearing emails.
then i realise chocs and sweets was from Leonard.
omg. he left the company. like.. Q.U.I.T his job.
*slap head*

boss was asking weird questions that i wouldn't have known

b c o s I w a s n t A r o u n d ?

so... yea.

actually in a way i was still glad for that one week's break altho i thought i could've spent it at home rotting but then i soon came to realise that was not meant to be. before i even started on my leave my planner was already filled up with bookings on things to do/ppl to meet for the week.

not that i'm complaining tho.

just comparing back then (erm.. ok say.. 2 years ago) from now, that's quite a change.

it showed a change in me being a person, a change in my personality and a change in my lifestyle. it seems so small a change yet in truth, it's pretty big.

i've always been quiet i guess. more of an introvert and can't socialise well (more evidently so in the past maybe say... 7 years back) and my life is seriously boring. hanging out with friends every alternate day may seem normal for others but it isn't so for me. to have even an outing may earn itself a huge star in my planner and i may look forward to it a great deal and when it does get cancelled somehow, i think i can literally see a grey cloud hanging above my head. yes, i was that much of an antisocial.

it's my face i tell u.

lost count of the times ppl say i look fierce and unapproachable at first glance.

*cries*

anyway, just a recap,

Monday i went to Kailing (my pri sch friend's) wedding dinner @ Grand Hyatt in Scotts Rd.

I was supposed to meet up with Ling Chee but I forgot that my friend's wedding falls on a Monday as well so we had to postphone our outing (which in the end got cancelled cos she had other engagements).

Ok, i was approached by someone from a talent agency. quite funny.

i stepped into the hotel and was abit stressed at first cos suddenly see a couple of ladies in super glam gowns then was thinking to myself "wah lau!? are they attending Kailing's wedding? must wear so glam!?" then suddenly realised there's quite a lot more teens wearing glam leh. guys also got. then blur. then walk to toilet saw a tv and saw the following text.

"TEMASEK JC PROM NIGHT"

CHEH.

I'm surprised to learn how that many of my KC classmates are now in the line of being teachers. and to be at the wedding being surrounded by table-full of teachers is... weird. the crowd is very guai tho bcos of that. even the yum seng also sounded really guai.

guai = well behaved

i like the ambience of the ballroom except that from where i was being seated, i cant see the wedded couple. only two out of the (dont know how many others were invited) of my pri sch classmates came for the wedding. two others that i know of weren't able to attend the dinner. too bad. havent seen one of them for ages.

this time i went alone w/o gu.

Tuesday i went back with CL, HL and gu to Discovery for lunch and to meet up with some old colleagues.

we sat by the koi pond for awhile looking at lao da.

"food!! gimme food!!"

after lunch we pretty much made our way back to katong area and wanted to go for KTV in katong shopping center BUT, it was fully booked. damn suay. so we thought of making our way to the bowling alley upstairs. CLOSED. wah lau! double suay. then walked across the road to try to eat some TW snow ice. SHOP IS GONE. WAH LAU EH. triple suay. even my comic shop also gone!! siao boh!!

anyway, we really ran out of ideas on what we can do so in the end we went to Settler's Cafe to play boardgames.

around 6+ ah gu left to meet his classmates. we probably wandered around parkway for awhile before meeting up with Ching's friends at night and that's probably how we spent the night.

Ate in this German restaurant. the sausages was nice. serving was huge but so was the price. Ching ordered this pig trotter so damn huge and in the end both HL and herself don't eat pork. the poor guy friend of hers had to eat it up. i helped a little. omg la.

i swear i'll not eat pork for a long time..

the rest of the night was spent in siglap slacking.

I can't quite remember what I did on Wednesday.

I was supposed to meet LC on Thursday but that was cancelled. Kelv has already previously asked me to come down to his outlet since Starbucks is giving away free coffee that day between a certain timing. I pretty much took my time going down since I'm not meeting LC anymore and when I got there I was pretty put off by the amount of ppl crowding ard Starbucks to get their free coffee. Later I heard from Kelv that got an auntie queued twice. tsk.

Had dinner w kor in Paragon's Thai Express restaurant. I ordered yellow curry chicken + rice and kor had some beehoon thingy hehehe.

I met up with Karen on Friday. Initially we were supposed to meet up in Orchard but since she cancelled her dental appointment and was craving for shi nai hk cafe's food, we switched out meeting place to my area instead. upper east coast rd's shi nai hk cafe opens in the evening till late night so i thought the outlet in east coast park would be the same so i told Karen we will go Parkway and have our lunch instead.

MY BAD! Realised shi nai hk cafe in east coast park is opened in the afternoon!! OPPS.
ahhahaha later Karen smack me.

we had fish and co instead. ended up ordering the same thing hahaha
had a good chat o'er lunch and nua-ed in the restaurant for a pretty long time (karen lazy bummmmm) before making a move to walk ard parkway. i mean.. parkway is near my house lah hahaha so i pretty much go there often enough so haha abit sianz but even karen found it sian. think she really in her usual chirpy mood.

since my wallet is abit thin nowadays i also no eye look ard in case i get tempted to buy things.
i saw a pullover that i liked alot n top shop but the price is stupid lah. $73.

we walked ard until really nothing left to walk before heading towards my place to nua somemore until dinner comes along to go shi nai hk cafe and eat hahaha

since karen's o'er at my place it was a good chance to pass her the crystal angel i previously made since she's already told me several times that she would like to have one.
gu joined us after his class.

BBQ 2007

paiseh. took really long to post this up until kena complain lol

This took place on Nov 24th (a day after my birthday).

I started preparing for the BBQ probably sometime in September but started most of the work in October and early and November.

I even did up an invitation this year! (what's new)

Took leave prior to my birthday (happens to be a friday this year) as well as thursday to do the groceries.

The planning was a little tiring and did get on my nerve a little hahaha since I kinda did alot of things myself for the start but I was glad everything turned out well.

I was so damn worried about the weather.

I was conned out of my house on friday lol
gu and ching they all wanted to help me celebrate my birthday but gu let the cat out of the bag by accident and I FOUND OUT!!! MUAHAHAHA..

oh well ahahaha it was quite amusing lah.
I was really surprised to see Ling Chee and Xiao Min there though and the strawberry strudel (heartshapped & full of candles!!) tasted superb.

There was a few hiccups for the BBQ this year since there's around 4 people who said they would come but ended up not being able to due to various reasons so there was some leftover food but overall, things still went well. It's really too bad that Immy's in UK this year and Billy's probably overseas still and couldn't attend.

I tried to prepare as much variety of food as possible and also to come up with more original ideas/recipes than the typical chicken wings and hotdogs.

It was quite a challenge since I had to avoid pork products as well as created more dishes that's vegetarian friendly but somehow... we managed it!!

Glad the idea was welcomed and well liked!
My fav was the dijon eggs, beef kabobs and thai tunghoon (my gu prepared this!).
Most of the things we either prepared or marinated on our own, like the salads, my kabobs, the dijon eggs etc. I had fun but as the time draws nearer to 6pm i'm getting quite panicky.

I even placed two rain dolls out on my window to pray for good weather for Saturday and HL is on standby to the rain dance if in case it rains.

I'm so freaking high to see the sky being so clear and having the sun shining into my kitchen lol
gu complained about the lack of breeze but what the heck! IT'S A SUN SHINY DAY!

some after note: after i took the rain dolls dwn the nxt day it started pouring muahahaha

It's prob one of the rare occasions where I see ppl eating up all the cold dishes first (there's quite alot) before we even finished cooking the food over the bbq pit.

the fire took awhile to start properly bcos the first batch of charcoal we bought proved to be abit problematic. heard it's bcos the charcoal was abit moist and the fire ended up not being hot enough to cook the food fast enough.
tsk. to think we bought it from NTUC.

so we went over elsewhere near the pit and bought a new bag.

things went pretty smooth after that.

Jere, YK & Sureen drove o'er to help carry most of the heavy stuff over.
Thank god!!

the pit wasn't all that near McDonalds.

hopefully the next time we have a BBQ, more ppl will be able to attend.

For those of you who attended (or was invited),
you can download the pictures we took that day from (this link here)

Pls take note that I've uploaded this file on December 03.
They will be available online for download for only 7 days.

I guess it's been a really long while since I had a longer break.
Not ever since I left school and had school holidays or something.
Working life is choking up abit and I need a breath of fresh air somehow.
Public holidays just ain't enough.

This one week leave I took will do me some good I suppose.

But even having said so,
I initially expected to stay home the whole week to rot but somehow...
my week is pretty much lined up with things I need to do already.
Oh well.

Went borders earlier on today.

Terry Goodkind's latest novel is out!!!!!!!
omg lah.
expensive.

OMG LA.

Japanese ppl gets more and more creative each time!!
Now....they brought my miniature food display to another level!!!
now..now... you can even 'create' the food display yourself and indulge in the joy of playing with fake food ingredient and utensils. WAH LAU I WANT!

(Click pic to enlarge)

If you wanna read more, here's the article I scanned from Ani-Wave mag.
It's in chinese. Can't read then just look at photos also fun. heh.

And they have.... tze char stalls with pretty girls!!! hahahahaha
But I think this is not a japanese creation.
Probably by a local (HK) toy maker or something.

Birthday Wishlist!
updated as of 13/11/2007

My birthday is technically still a month away hahaha but Yee Lin suggested putting up a wish list to help others have an idea what to get for me esp for those who plans early.

i feel abit thick skinned doing this hahaha oh well if it helps. on the bright side, i think it's better than wasting ur money on buying me something (if u do) but end up it's not something i'll like/use/appreciate. so this wishlist is to make ur money/efforts worth. hahahaha

1. HOW ABT SENDING ME TO NYC KINOKUNIYA BY NOV (refer to previous entry) TO GET TO SEE MY FAV MANGA ARTIST, TAKEHIKO INOUE, DRAWING UP A MURAL!?!?!?! HUH!? HUH!? (ok lah fine.. this is just wishful thinking on my part.. thought i'll just try my luck)

2. Kinokuniya vouchers. (don't give me any other vouchers. kino is the best. then i can buy comics muahahaha)

3. Metal mailbox saving box (it's around $32+)
I actually saw this today while shopping with gu. It's basically a coin saving bank! hahahaha i liked it quite alot but it's abit too pricey for me. *blinks* saw it in Bugis Junction at one of the push carts, 2nd cart nearest to macdonalds. (keys r to be included with the set)

4. Any handmade items (if you hand-make anything for me it's fine as well)

5. Miniature figurines (those miniature japanese foodies display)

6. Merchandise related to anime e.g. Lucky Star, Ookiku Furikabutte, Yotsuba, Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheido, NANA, Moyashimon, Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn!, Mushishi, etc)

7. "Josee, the Tiger and the Fish" DVD. (URL)I've probably been aiming this for the longest time ever.. no to avail. haiz

hmmmmm...... so far I can only think of these much. hah! actually books or wadever cute things also can lah..

negligence rots the ground

I've let my guards down..
my mistake.
now i'm hurt once again.

should I harden myself once again.
be critical about everything and just retreat into my own garden of rose letting all the thorns of my garden wall keep the unwanted intruders out?

am i being impatient?
should i've been more understanding?
but i'm so very tired. tired of asking. tired of initiating.

i've become less sensitive over the years.
in other words,
i've numbed myself towards many things.
when i don't expect,
i don't get disappointed.
i protect myself.
then i won't get hurt.

still.. there are lapses.
there are times when i thought it's all right.
to open my heart,
to commit myself into believing wholeheartedly... that when i give someone 100%, that someone can give me back 100%.

i know i'm wrong.
for being naive.

reality gave me a tight slap i guess.
i'm now left confused with a taste of betrayal lingering in my tongue.
was i abandoned once again?
should i hold on to faith and hope and belief that perhaps.. with explaination, all reasons and betrayals could be forgiven?

or should i stand by the principle that wrong is wrong and there's no grey line in this matter?

i wanna know, yet i can't be bothered to find out.
cant be bother to be the one reaching out again.
i don't want to put in effort anymore.

bah.

numbing myself is easier. let's stick to that.

Wedding Bells in the Family

attended my cousin's wedding dinner over the weekend.
it was held in Rasa Sentosa Resort on a saturday evening.

it's not that ez to get there considering the amount of traffic just upon approaching sentosa and when we sorta entered. dad's friend came to pick us up to fetch us there. nice uncle.

i wasn't aware of a hawaiian theme.
i wasn't aware of it being an open concept dinner.
i wasn't aware that food will be served buffet/catering style.

none of us were... actually.

the wise ones then started remarking on the what if(s).

what if it rains?
what if the ants fall from the tree and into the food.
what if ants crawled up our chairs?

if it rains... we kids will grab the plate of beef and head for shelter. bryan will grab the utensils and i'll have kris grab the plates.

best!

anyway, weather turned out quite cooling that night.
being unaware of the theme, i kinda over-dressed.

(Click pic to enlarge)

the beef served was pretty tough to cut through with the knife given to us.
"BRING ME A REAL KNIFE PLS!", cried Bryan.
quite funny.

three of us were trying our might to cut the beef slices into pieces.

the table nearly collapsed i think. my aunt kept asking us to not shake the table.

my cousin is really slim.
now i'm really determined to make sure i maintain a gd figure when my big day comes.

learnt a few 'lessons' after having attended my cousin's wedding.
lotsa things to take note of.
what to do and what NOT to do.

i once considered having it by the riverside.
at least not having our chairs on the grass with ants crawling up. but now i've learnt to take the weather into consideration. music selection must make sense. the photographer we engage is very impt. i've seen quite a few portfolios before, friend's wedding pics and all. now i know what i DONT want, i have to make extra effort to find a photographer whom i like in terms of photography style. i realise i'm pretty particular about this point. nxt impt point is the speech we give during the dinner. i'll make sure i plan a script beforehand. saying the wrong things... have dire consequences.

but of course, saying all these now is still a tad too early.

all i can say is that i'm very very particular about the overall aesthetics and atmosphere. things must match and make sense.

was jokin with my cousin when being asked when's my turn next.

"2 years from now"
"wah planned already ah!?"
"no lah must consider age limit ma. two years better faster get married if not expire liao then u all won't have wedding dinner in restaurants but in the kopitiam."
"LOL"

did i ever tell you i enjoy being with my relatives esp when there's a whole grp of them?

grabbed my cousins for a grp pic.
not all my cousins are in there but haha.. will do.

(Click pic to enlarge)

the wedding gifts were candles.
it runs in the blood i tell you.
esp when suddenly all my auntie and uncles (and my dad) went around taking other ppls' candles (since they left already). my dad even joked and say we can sell them for $1 each. he tried to con my cousin.

"Uncle sell you 1 for $1 lah!!"
(cousin runs away)
"OK lah!! sell you cheap! 50 cents lah!"

my mom somehow managed to link all the paper bags together for dad to carry with just a finger.

in the end he had to carry all the candles home.
one mad daddy i have.
i asked him why take so many back home?
he say it's for me.

wah lau.

JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF L!

got into a L frenzy, busied myself with taking photos of L in his various 'heads+expressions', and of course, the couch (my fav!).
there isn't 6 figurines yea. i merely took L's pics in 6 different poses and combined them with photoscape. i used a black bg and took the pictures with flash.

..but of course, my fav pose is still this. (below)

i liked the 45 degree upward look of his eyes. this angle is very good. make it seems like L is thinking up a plan or something.

While I was parading around my L figurine and brought it to her desk,
Pam tried to use her Honda robot man to sexually assault L.

to no avail of course.

so in the end, Honda robot man stole L's seat and L had to sulk one corner.
BAH!

Ah Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww!! *sniffles*

was pak tohing with gu and walking around bugis junction before heading to liang seah street area for dinner. i was starving but my pickiness bug attacked me and i was craving for steamboat but they're all so damn crowded and besides steamboat, i couldn't think of wad else to it and was unwilling to eat just anything (cos tastebuds on strike). poor gu.

end up gu ate duck rice first while i sat and stared into space while struggling with my hunger.

eventually i decided to eat in tongshui cafe. not that the food was great though. haiz.

reckoned we still have some space in our tummy, we went in search of the dessert shop that gu was telling me about and saying that after much observation, it has always been very crowded. we finally found the shop and truth be told! it's really damn packed! but the shop gave off a very traditional feel with a old uncle trying to help the customers find seats. the bowls they used for the desserts were pretty old school as well. i was lookin around and realised although they managed to maintain tradition and standard of the food, the management style is very contemporary and there were quite a few intelligent looking young ladies helping out inside the shop. can't help but to appraise their marketing / business practice / process in terms of hawkering and is pleased to find out that they're one of the smart ones who will have their business flourish.

we ordered mango sago and black sesame seed paste with glutinous rice ball.

OMG THE MANGO SAGO DAMN NICE!
THE GLUTINOUS RICE BALL VERY BIG! SESAME INSIDE V SWEET WOO!

er yea so in simple words, go try!

Earrings for Iman

21 October 2007

Nyaha!

I made these last week but I'm posting it up only now cos I don't want to spoil the surprise for Immy!

This pair of earrings were made specially for her since she's the birthday girl.
Now that's she's in UK, I had it mailed over to her along with a birthday card.
was really happy to receive her sms a week later (takes 5-6 days to reach) saying that she received it and loved the earrings. *beams with pride*

i bought a box to put the earrings in and stuffed quite abit of bubble wrap inside as well to keep the earrings from moving around.

The design of the earrings were an improvised pattern I've made from a beads design book I bought. The cross itself was from the design found in the book but i replaced the center piece with a different colour. with the cross alone i though the earring looked pretty tiny and boring so i added a string of beads to give it a more goth look. am fairly happy with the results. heh.

yes! I've done it! I've finally collected my Nendroid L! muahahahahahaha... *trails off*

Nendroid L figurine (Click pic to enlarge)

ain't it cute!? the sofa!! I've waited for months for this and it's finally here.
now I have L and Ryuk. regret a lil for not buying Kira though.. hm.. and as I was checking out the back of the box to see how I can assemble L, I came to realise that if I've bought Kira in the first place, there would've been a set of handcuffs that links them both together!! Damn!

My fav expression is still the NIYARI! one.

I found the detachable hair and head concept abit eerie especially when you stare down into the box and see the faces lol. eurgh.. nanka kimochi warui. *shivers*

I'll work on this when I get back to office and parade my new L around.

Neighbourhood Cat - Toa Payoh Cat

aint this little fella adorable? (Click to enlarge)

one of the sweetest lil thing i've ever seen.

cooler still is the colour of its eyes.
initially, my attention was caught but a cat lying/sleeping on the side wall surrounding a condo. it's kinda hilarious but i didn't take a pic of it (why didnt i!? geez). then i spotted this cutie somewhere further below. then it started meowing in a rather cute way. at us. so... i decided to lure it nearer. while both yeelin and i meowed back in response, it responded somemore and soon, it got off and slowly walked toward us. a lil wary at first but soon i was jiggling my bracelet to catch it's attention. but i was half hiding my hands behind me while i squat to almost it's level. i've come to realise this is a neat trick to use if you want to get a cat's attention esp teenager cats / kittens that's extremely curious at that given point in time. as it approaches, i took a pretty shoot shot of it. am quite happy with the result.

the older cat soon woke and got off. the funniest moment was when it also started meowing. it wasn't the typical 'meow'. it was like a series of meow and god-knows-what sounds. it's damn hilarious. almost like it was talking!

but I digress lol

the reason why we were in toa payoh in the first place.. was to taste Kelv kor's cooking!!
the day has finally arrived!!!! (after postphoning it xxx times due to various reasons).
and..and.. i've brought yee lin along! YAY!

starting off with a scenic view from the 16th floor...

wah lau! kor ur view damn shiok!!!

i was in the living room and while i looked to my left, the entire sky is in view. OMG LAH!

actually kor's home interior is pretty cosy and i like the small window near his kitchen where you can peek in from the living room. it gave off a very cottage feel.

okok, once we got into Kelv's home, busy chef started working fairly quickly.
soon, yee lin and I invaded the kitchen to kaypoh.

laying around was the ingredients and our shy chef who refused to let me take his picture.
(OAO) why like that!

can see that he really spent ALOT of effort preparing the meals (and $$$!!) cos all is made with LURVE AND EFFORT n he is very generous with his ingredients!!!

yeelin is almost squealing at everything she tasted hahaha and gu was totally stuffed cos kor gave him too much pasta. tsk. my gu quite pointless. his appetite very small now. we two are very useless ppl to bring to buffets. shad.

as for me, as long i have my meat, i'm a happy girl.

what we had that day:
  1. Tofu, with roe and scallop wing
  2. Corn soup
  3. Chawanmushi (DAMN NICE!)
  4. Seafood pasta
  5. Pomela sorbet
  6. Codfish with miso sauce
  7. Beef steak, potato and mushrooms with red wine sauce
  8. Molten lava choc cake with raspberry ice cream
notable experiences:

it's my first time daring to try scallop wing cos it looks weird. i'm not very adventurous with food but i ended up liking it after i tried though. it's like how i ended up liking jellyfish as well. they look yucky but the chewiness won me over. only sad thing was i had some of the scallop wing stuck in my back molar for the longest time and that irritated the heck out of me.

the chawanmushi was probably the best i've ever tasted so far. the chicken pieces were so damn nice and the egg custard uber smooth! wo xi huan (i like) !!!

at first kor say 'yu zu' for the pomelo sorbet, i didn't really register wad a yuzu is until much later. so when i first tasted it, i thought the taste was rather unique. like flower. lavender or something. hah!

hehehehe

throughout our entire dinner, i was busy taking photos of the food.
ok lah enough of describing. i'm not gonna post the pics up individually cos there's too many,
so here's a collage to round it up.

bet u're like starin at the screen now thinking of food right! muahahahaha (am evil for posting foodies photos)

we stayed behind till 10+ while sitting on the couch watching taiwanese variety shows before finally heading back home. gu's so stuffed his stomach was super bloated like he was three mths pregnant or something.

after more than 8 years of fearful hesitation and paranoid procrastination....
i finally overcame my fear!!!

...

ok not quite.

but i've.. finally... braved myself against all.. and.. stepped into a dental clinic!!!!

omg i'm so brave i cant believe it ahahahahahaha.

but omg the smell!!! once i stepped into the clinic, i felt like pulling my hair and screaming my lungs out and run out of the clinic. i remember my secondary school days... (that explain why i havent stepped into a dental clinic for 8 years. i left sec sch 8 years ago)... where the evil dentist with their evil drills.. showing no mercy on our poor gums.. yes GUMS where they'll polish ur teeth with the gums. GOD DAMN IT!

and that doctor who failed to pull my front teeth out (i fell. don't ask. long story) properly having me wail in pain and my mom asking him to eventually stop and brought me somewhere else to have my blackened tooth extracted...ah damn the evil dentist who traumatised my life.

today's dentist was.. like an angel (almost) as compared to my past experiences with all those evil beings but still.. it hurts like heck but less.

ah alas.. my teeth.. they feel clean.. my gums.. they're aching.. ouch.

8 years of unpolished teeth has left them all covered in tartar with a left wisdom tooth that has cavity (shit, need another visit to get it filled), the dentist worked really hard today. the nurse is evil. first she nearly choked me with the jet or wadever sucking thing by jabbing at my already cramping tongue, then she left it somewhere near my throat. then for a split second she turned the glaring lamp towards my eyes... OMG I'M BLIND!! ok, that's for a second. i wonder if the dentist felt tempted to poke her with the drill.

it felt like my mouth was some construction site and buildings are getting demolished.

he said i have unhealthy gums. that's true. they bleed very easily. i have some sorta gum disease but now that my teeth are clean, and if i brush my teeth properly, it'll soon heal. =) heh! thank got i started using Sensodyne recently. my teeth used to be damn sensitive. it has significantly gotten better. the shrill sound coming from the drill is like... piercing through my ears perpetually. up to a point when he started drilling my right wisdom tooth, it was as if there was a sudden bout of air pressure going thro my right ear and the shrill noise rang right thro! got a shock man. he said cos the nerves are nearer there.

oh man. doc with special glasses, mouth mask, drills, gloves, evil nurse, glaring light.. i can never get used to that.

i was clasping my hands together so damn tightly that i realised i was soon shaking cos ran out of strength.

my mouth started cramping cos open too long.

the whole visit cost a whopping $131!
but i didn't pay a single cent MUAHAHA.
why? can claim from company heh. got medic card.

now i need to brave myself and get the cavity filled..

Sparkly clean teeth!

Happy me!

long time no blog aye?

i think i didn't really follow up on the happenings after my KL trip.

when i got back i didnt realise my desk was rearranged but soon i found out anyway.
MH was the one who pointed it out, after which Ms Goh snickered pretty loudly.

Since when did the cap i knit for my bear (pic on right) ended up on top of Ryuk!?
How come bear's cap become my knitted flower?!

tsk.

was with gu pak-tohing around bugis junction over the weekend and saw this display before having dinner at Terra.

It was the car that's to be use for the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (url) performance!

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car (Click pic to enlarge)

Will be going to watch this with LJ in early november heh! can't wait!

xxxxxxxxxxx

before we reached bugis junction we actually saw this HUGE and seriously ORANGE red sun while we were on the ECP. i was so shocked but couldn't get a good shot! the sun was constantly hiding behind the buildings, damn!

when we got off the bike we tried our luck by going up bras basah to see if we can catch a glimpse of it yet but alas, it was somewhat foggy and the sun was gradually setting so we lost sight of it.

over so many years, being in this place where i've had many childhood memories to hold on to, it has become the centre of a concrete jungle. just looking around you see buildings, both old and new, surrounding it. at least there were still much familiar sights amidst the new buildings.
i can still see the old cathedral and allson hotel and victoria street. some shops have changed but oh well...

nearing dawn, facing victoria street (Click pic to enlarge)

we had another chance to see a huge glaring sun except that what we saw the day before was much more spectacular.

i took this shot with my hp and edited it slightly with photoshop to emphasize the glare.

KL TRIP 2007

yay! my first trip overseas!

no.. i'm serious. it's my first trip. >_<

DAY 1

HL, our appointed wake-up-call IC called us up at around 6AM.

i slept at 2am... so basically.. i had only 4hrs of sleep. Whee! *faints*

she rounded us all up in a cab and abducted us to Beach Rd. =D

u see three blurry eyed ppl in the cab.

we had breakfast at a kopitiam across the road and was being served by a shaggy looking uncle who takes orders but don't bother listening and keeps looking away. we repeated our orders ten billion times. i suspect he is a bookie. oh well.

the bus ride took forever and i pity my ass.

it nearly cracked open.

i couldn't really fall asleep properly cos my neck kept falling to the sides and everytime that happens, i wake up. so while everyone is happily in lala land, i was awake. sad. oh yes, within the first hour of my bus ride my mp3 player died on me. battery flat. *cries*

other than the roads being wider, hmm there's nothing spectacular for me to view outside the bus while it's on he road. so i kept the curtains shut. at one of the stops (for rest), we bought some snacks like tea egg and baos etc. their 'da bao' really huge man. i wonder why singapore versions ones are like so shrunken..

there was this HUGE fish. i mean.. seriously huge.

ok pic not clear... here's another.

just try to estimate the length of the fish by comparing with the tiles on the background. u shld be able to guage it's length. it's damn huge.

we reached KL at about 2pm in the afternoon and alighted at federal hotel instead of capitol somehow. our itinerary says capitol. so we're kinda clueless where our hotel is. had to go over to royal bintang and ask.

anyway, judging that it's prob quite a walking distance away, we decided to head straight to shopping instead so we went to times square and sungei wong to shop.

huge!

you somehow see a glimpse of singapore everywhere in the shopping malls. lol

the roads of KL was scary though. traffic was really messy and i was hugging my belongings real tight.

we had lunch in KFC first and boy was it gd!

then we shopped till we drop for the nxt few hours and by the time we're done it's almost dark hahahaha

it's just amusing how the shop attendants would greet you in cantonese. quite a culture shock for me. thank goodness i do know how to conversate in cantonese and could reply back.

we were looking for places to have our dinner but there wasnt somewhere that's not crowded available so we decided to check in first and place our belongings in the hotel first.

we were staying in Swiss Inn. it's quite near petaling jaya and now i know why pam say it's very luan there. it is damn messed up. all the roadside stalls and i saw pimps and prostitutes and fights and i was hugging my bag so tightly and since only ching and HL's hp has auto-roaming, we were trying our best not to get separated.

geez. i'll activate my hp to auto-roaming nxt time.

the hotel rooms looked cosy enough but the tv channels was boring. gu n ching was trying to find ESPN and the pprs indicated that we're supposed to have it on TV7 but there wasn't?!

we left our bags and brought the impt stuff with us and went dwn for dinner. we had claypot rice randomly and the food was good but i think we were ripped off. the boy serving us has serious attitude problem.

soon we saw those roadside stall vendors running with their stalls lol. think there's custom officer after them. then i was thinking out loud how our claypot stall owner is gonna run with his claypots.

i bought two pairs of jeans, magazines, dvds and a bag heh~!

it was really fun shopping in KL. all the variety. some of the malaysian girls have really nicely done up hairstyles but some of the guys... urgh. stuck in the 90s of Sg era with the coloured "cockroach feelers" look. gawd.

later that night ching's friend came to pick us up. we were supposed to go to the ktv at first but ended up drinking somewhere. there was this stupid man standing really close to the car door and just staring in. like he is gonna attempt to open up the door or something. really scary!

we were wearing rather shabbily and so her friend was really having a hard time thinking of where to bring us to (will get kicked out from clubs) that's safe enough since it's almost midnight.

surprisingly, at this hour, roads of KL was still jammed!

after a quick round of drink we went back to our hotel, bathed and was preparing to sleep until... I FOUND BED BUGS!

that sure created quite a ruckus. lol soon gu was QC-ing all our bedsheets and found bed bugs on all of them. EW. ching n HL got pretty freaked out and ching even started using the hair dryer to toast the sheets with bed bugs ahahahahahhaha

guess it's bcos it's already in the middle of the night and we're all tired, we ended up being really cranky and hyper as well. we called up the hotel attendant to tell them we wanna change bed sheets cos there's bed bugs and end up, the security guard came cos room attendants off duty already. so poor thing!! but the guard very nice guy lah then being cranky and hyper we kept laughing and crapping and ching kept asking the guard questions.

even tho the bed sheets were finally changed, we were still too paranoid so we decided to abandon the nxt room and all four of us squeeze into one room to sleep on the more qualified bed.

so two of us shared a bed each.
sad.

that concludes day 1.

DAY 2

we woke up at around 9am on day two. wanted to go try out this bah kut teh (or rather MUK kut teh) that's famous and recommended by Ranna.

think we don't really know how to appreciate it hahaha cos it's very herbal-ish. very different from singapore.

we did some last minute shopping and i bought another tshirt to go before we had to rush back to capitol hotel lobby for departure. had lunch in some kopitiam just across the street from royal bintang. wanton mee. the ah ma very character leh! can speak good english! she reminds me of my grandma. the wanton mee taste quite special lah. nice but i was interrupted with work (argh) so i wasnt in the mood and ate quite hastily.

we waited at capitol hotel lobby only to find the driver (without the bus) coming over to us ask to go over to federal. it started to rain somemore stupid! then have to blind run across all the back lanes (and nearly stepped on this super huge dead rat) to get to federal and when we're on it, the other passengers are already comforable seated within!

we sent a complaint letter to five stars tour when we got back.

then another round of butt splitting bus ride. since there's no street lights, the bus drove slowly. by the time we reached sg it was already 9pm or so. but i managed to try Ramly burger. DAMN NICE AH!

when we finally finally finally reached Beach Rd, we took a cab to shi nai hk cafe @ east coast rd for dinner. wah lau. tired man.

by the time i reached home my folks were already sound asleep.

shall surprise them with the presents tml.

Dinner & Dance (Back to School Theme)

Welcome to.. SPENA High!

Let me bring you some insider stories of the latest gossips in our school and the latest happenings so hold on tight to your seats!

with just one week of notice, i was told that we're having a D&D.

In September.

*roll eyeballs*

and i was supposed to be on leave to go KL!!??

*curse n swears!*

anyway ching n HL was really nice lah. they encouraged me to go for the D&D and have fun and thus we planned a more hurried holiday trip. just 2D1N.

and so i did went for my D&D and I must say, I did enjoy myself alot!

it was a back to high school theme and so when i first stepped into Sheraton Hotel, i almost thought i was at the wrong ballroom! couldn't recognize anyone! i mean... DUH they're wearing sch uniforms but i was still too shocked to register them as my colleagues hahahahaha

one of my directors even came in a primary sch uniform with blue blouse n navy blue shorts with a water bottle, soccer ball and plastic-ish cartooned pri sch schoolbag!!!

OMG TOO CUTE!

there were plenty of prettily dolled up ladies and in the assorted uniforms and the guys in the smart looking guy uniforms.

some of the peeps really went n get real sch uniforms!
that thought didn't appeal too much to me lah cos pointless getting a set and then thereafter what am i supposed to do with it? lol

Guess what's my door gift!?

Sony Walkman!

after i told my friends about it they pretty much wanted to smack me haha

i was kinda surprised when i saw Glenn Ong. i thought my eyes were playing tricks on my but no! he was our MC that night. hah! i secretly prefered our last year's D&D MC though. =P

he was funnier lah.

but i don't dislike Glenn so heh gd for me lah.

oh guess who else was there?

Kumar. with his stand-up comedy. I've never heard any of his acts lah so everything was shockingly new and erm.. shocking. but funny of course. Khim probably laughed the loudest? MH was pretty shocked hahaha but she had her fair share of laughing but since the jokes are very localised, she had a hard time understanding and catching up. Not as if i could translate everything without losing the laugh factor lah.

don't ask me about the food cos i was hardly paying attention to what i was eating that night.
in short, it wasn't too memorable. they served up quite a number of seafood dishes which ended up mostly on Khim's plate instead hahaha cos i don't take seafood.

oh we have this flower gang. what's dat? the pretty ladies who wore the flower crochet i made wahahaha..!

gatherings like these, we take tonnes of photos. that's prob the only activity worth doing.
other than that, it's about the lucky draw. muahahaha

first prize is Bravia TV can!?

imagine if i won that. shiok man!

but i digest. here's the pics! i combined them into three sets of collages so just click on them for the larger view (it's not that much bigger tho).

in case any of you guys find the tie i'm wearing somewhat familiar...

it's our TEMASEK POLY school tie!!!

wahahahaha i specially dug it out to wear k! imagine 3 years in poly and we never wore it even once! hahaha so stupid. don't even know why they gave it to us. i found another colleague who also dug out her TP sch tie to use hahahaha

the D&D more or less ended around 11PM or so. oh but before that, i DID win something frm the lucky draw!

11th prize... a Sony DSC-T100 digital camera! wahahaha i bet sano wants to smack me.

my precious!
